Happy Holidays!
Most of the art is simple (no pretension to being Rembrandt here!), and the items are everyday things that you can use over and over again….but everything is fun, or quirky, or cheerful, so here’s hoping you find something you love to bring a bit of sunshine to you or someone you care about.
You’ll find links to each collection of items below – explore your favourites, shop for gifts (you can even let me know if you have a special request), but most importantly, enjoy!
River Moon Arts came about because, after a hectic, far-too-packed few years, I discovered that my path was turning towards a more tranquil, creative and simplified world than I’ve been able to really enjoy for a long time. My own journey inspires me to find joy in the little things, and I hope River Moon Arts inspires you to find joy in your own lives, in any little way you can.
I started fooling around with oil paints years ago, after taking a class inauspiciously titled “Anyone Can Paint”, and it was a revelation. Not so much that I was, or am, particularly artistic, but because it was just pure, unadulterated fun learning something I had never thought I would be good at. Since then, I’ve found that my creative side has some strengths and some weaknesses (never ask about my drawing!), but it also brings me joy, even when other parts of life might be a little challenging.
These days I spend time with watercolours because they’re free and unpredictable, or controlled and exact, depending on what you’re feeling, and I identify with that weird duality more and more. The pieces you’ll find in my shop are small pieces of joy that make me feel good, and I hope that some of them make you happy as well. I’ve just put up a few designs for now, but I’ll be adding more soon.
As for the process, I paint the original art and then scan the designs I am using for each item into Photoshop, fiddle a bit with the layout so it fits everything I want it to, and it’s all done. The originals are often just bits on scrap paper that I have to clean all the doodles away from, but the process is fun, and I love working with Photoshop as much as I love the actual painting. I’ve been asked several times to paint something specific, and that’s always a treat to have a brief to follow, so if you want something that you don’t see, feel free to get in touch through my Contact page and I’ll see what i can do.
I’m also working on several more formal paintings, as well as textile designs, pottery and more, so please check back often, as this little shop will be a mixed bag of goodies as more becomes available.
I’ll be setting up and working on my social media channels for the shop soon, and you can sign up below to be notified when new products are available or when a social media channel opens up – I promise not to spam you and will never sell your info!
